Job Description

Position: Director of Youth & Family Ministry

Job Status: Full - time salaried position, reporting directly to Pastor; with direction from the
Youth & Family Ministry committee.

Compensation commensurate with experience and including paid vacation, continuing education and ELCA benefits. We seek someone with a career focus on the vocation of youth and family ministry.

The Youth and Family Minister together with the Youth & Family Ministry conunittee and the
Pastor will continue to strive to build and sustain faith foundations for all ages through resources, educational programs, fellowship, and community service.

Functions of Position:
I. Provide age appropriate programming for and with youth and families. Programming should be well balanced and in keeping with SCLC values and vision.
2. Organize youth for camps, mission trips, and national gatherings.
3. Develop and maintain a budget, and coordinate funding for youth activities.
4. Personal contact with youth outside church i.e. school concerts, athletic events, plays,lunch visits.
5. Participate in worship opportunities with youth and deliver children's sermon on Sunday.
6. Attend continuing education events, ELCA programs when able.
7. Coordinate and facilitate Wednesday evening confirmation instruction.
8. Participate in weekly staff meetings, coordinate monthly newsletter, and submit pertinentinformation for SCLC website.
9. Oversee parish education i.e. Vacation bible school, Sunday school, and MilestoneMinistry.
10. Continuously assess needs, interests, and desires of youth and their families in order thatSCLC Youth & Family Ministry remains relevant and responsive.
11. This position will include but is not limited to the above responsibilities; other duties maybe assigned as the need arises.


Qualifications:

I. Member of ELCA congregation is preferred.
2. Criminal background check required and provide proof of valid driver's license.
3. A Bachelors degree, with major in Youth Ministry preferred. Beneficial to have Certification School in Youth & Family Ministry or equivalent experience.
4. Proficient level of conununication skills, computer knowledge, and ability to learn.
5. Have a high level of organizational skills, be a reliable self-starter, and while having astrong work ethic lead a balanced life.
6. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, involving evenings and weekends; requires occasional travel.
7. This position shall be reviewed annually by the Pastor.
